Kellogg's Share Your Bowl Program to Debut at UVa

The Kellogg Company and UVa Dining have teamed up to introduce a new hunger-fighting program in Charlottesville. Called "Share Your Bowl", for every bowl of cereal that a student eats in the dining hall throughout the month of February, a matching bowl equivalent will be donated to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. UVa is the first school to partner in Kellogg with philanthropic effort, which is certainly a logical fit considering the service-oriented student body.

The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is actually a fairly extensive network of food donation programs like soup kitchens, food pantries, and other nonprofits that serve food across 25 counties via four main distribution points: Lynchburg, Winchester, Verona, and Charlottesville. Over 145,000 Virginia residents benefit from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank's support each year and "Share Your Bowl" will help play a role in the Food Bank's daily fight against hunger. The cereal donation program is scheduled to run for a month at Runk, Newcomb and OHill with a kick-off event planned for next Wednesday, January 26th at noon at OHill. Come on by to meet a few of the key players in this effort, including representatives from the Blue Ridge Food Bank, Kellogg, Sysco, and one familiar tiger-ish cereal mascot...[wink]! Dining hopes to see you next week, and thanks in advance for sharing your bowl.
